Biography: | My college education was acquired at Drexel University doctorate program, Indiana University in Political Science, Toledo University and West Virginia University also shaped my education. I have worked in government in Ohio, with retail in Chicago, and as an administrator in North Carolina. Those experiences helped to acquire that edge and compulsion to get the best ideas out of people. My parents were from Chicago. My passion for teaching stems from my mother who was a college university librarian. I loved reading, I loved school, and everything I learned I would come home and teach my younger brothers and sisters. There were 8 children 4 girls and 4 boys. I enjoyed school so much I begged my mom to let me go to summer school and she always said no, she said I needed to learn how to have fun. I enjoy learning. I also discovered that I can expand my knowledge base by living in different environments and different parts of the United States. Those learned experiences I can pass on to others. So as you can see my passion for teaching was formed at a very early age. It has not stopped. I have taught Political Science in Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, and Florida at private colleges, community colleges, large universities, and medium-sized universities. Now I can add Middle Georgia State University to my portfolio. I am committed to students learning. I am a student advocate I honestly believe that every student has been endowed with talents. My job is to allow that talent to come forth in the classroom. That each student needs to be honored, valued, and given the tools to equip them to be the best in whatever career they choose to go in. When a student walks into my class I am confident and guarantee that students’ interaction will have a positive long-term effect. For each class, I start my preparation months in advance. I recognize all students have different learning styles; some like to participate in class discussions, some like tests, others like writing papers, and some can do it all. So in class, I am like the athlete I get in the zone and my only focus is the subject, are we learning, are we understanding, and have we increased the knowledge base. I am the coach, I want you to win and your victory is my victory. I also look out for the little people. I have to make sure everyone walks out a winner. Not one or two or a few but everyone. I am passionate about ensuring that everyone succeeds! |
