Biography: I am a native Atlantan and have lived in Washington, DC, Los Angeles, California, and three cities in Alaska (Anchorage, Seward and Soldotna). I am married with four sons (one biological, three bonus) and one grandson. My hobbies include playing the piano, reading, writing (academic and fictional), cooking, baking, gardening, yoga, water aerobics (but not in that order). My favorite seasons are fall and spring.

Professional Experience: 3/2023 – CURRENT: MCGRAW HILL PUBLISHING. Creating and revising content as a Subject Matter Expert on a contract part-time basis.

8/2014 – CURRENT: MIDDLE GEORGIA STATE UNIVERSITY, Macon, GA. Assistant Professor of Sociology (8/14 - 7/18), Part Time Faculty (1/19 – 7/19, 1/22 –
current). Courses Taught: Introduction to Social Problems, Introduction to Sociology, Marriage and Family, and Gerontology in traditional (in class), hybrid, and online class formats. Developed courses, compiled syllabi, and facilitated lectures and interactive classroom discussions. Constructed and administered homework assignments, quizzes and exams, class exercises and debates. Assisted in University-wide retention efforts. Class sizes range(d) from 21 – 35. Provided academic advisement to sophomore, junior and senior psychology, and criminal justice majors. Engaged in community outreach in Macon and Warner Robins metropolitan areas. Served on Academic Affairs Board, Experiential Learning, and Faculty Development Committees. Created Gerontology Certificate Program. Developed Aging and Policy course to be included in the complement of courses and served on the Department committee to create and implement sociology as a minor to the University.

8/2015 – CURRENT: eCORE (UNIVERSITY OF WEST GEORGIA), Carrolton, GA. Sociology Faculty. Taught Introduction to Sociology course in asynchronous online format. Facilitated and participated in class discussions to expand students’ understanding of sociological concepts, administered quizzes and exams, and graded homework assignments. Assisted in University retention efforts. Class sizes range from 28 – 40 students.

8/2020 – 6/14/2024: MOREHOUSE COLLEGE, Atlanta, GA. Adjunct Sociology Faculty. Courses Taught: Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, History of Social Thought, The Family, Life Cycle and Aging. Created and executed in-person and hybrid online sociology courses.
Delivered lectures synchronously and asynchronously. Posted content, created quizzes/exams, writing assignments, discussions to enhance student learning. Graded, participated in retention efforts, and upheld the mission of a traditional, historical black college. Class sizes ranged from 20-29 students.

8/2019 – 12/2021: GEORGIA GWINNETT COLLEGE, Lawrenceville, GA. Sociology Lecturer. Taught sociology courses to undergraduate students. Compiled lectures, discussions, assignments, quizzes, and exams, in-person and using Blackboard (D2L) LMS.
