| Biography: | I am Dr. Myra Davis. I am originally from Columbus, Georgia where I graduated from Carver High School. After earning the B.A. degree in Psychology and Biology at Mercer University, I later earned the M.S. degree in Psychology at Florida State University. I earned a Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Florida. I have a long history of being committed to teaching and learning. I am also interested in Community Psychology; therefore, I have designed and implemented summer camp opportunities for under-served children and teens in Macon. My work history includes: Assistant Dean of Women at Mercer University; Coordinator of the Outreach Upward Bound Program at Mercer University Assistant Professor of Psychology at Macon College which later became Macon State University Associate Professor of Psychology Professor of Psychology Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs with tutelage of Dr. Thomas Isherwood Associate Vice President of Minority Student Achievement with tutelage of Dr. Thomas Isherwood Associate Vice President of Student Affairs with tutelage of Dr. Thomas Isherwood Professor Emerita of Psychology (retired) Part-Time Professor of Psychology I have one adult daughter who has earned two Masters Degrees in Education with one Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Mercer University. I have one adult grandson who has earned two years in college and earned a CDL license. He is traveling generally from east to west in his eighteen wheeler truck; while, my grand daughter is exploring acting and fine arts dancing. She has starred in numerous plays. Together with my family, friends, and colleagues, I enjoy my calm, peaceful life. |

RESEARCH INTEREST: “Attitudes of Minorities and Women about Civilian Employment with the Department of the Army” “Helping Behavior with Situational Differences” “The Effect of the Newcomer’s Behaviors and Attitudes on Incumbent Group Members and the Effect of the Behaviors and Attitudes of the Incumbent Group Members on the Newcomer” Implementation of an evidence-based model, the Positive Parenting Model, to Parents in Monroe County: 2013 - 2016 as funded by the Governor’s Office for Prevention and Family Support Division of Family and Children Services. |
