Teaching and Research Interests: My primary responsibilities during the time at Middle Georgia State University include field
supervision and teaching elementary education and special education courses. Having a
graduate degree in Early Childhood Education and 10 years of teaching experience in P-12
classrooms, I combine my pedagogical expertise with my content knowledge to provide
meaningful classroom experiences for our students. Most of the courses that I teach focus on
Area F foundational theories, classroom management, field/clinical practice, and
interdisciplinary studies. I utilize research-based teaching strategies to promote teacher candidate
learning and model effective instruction while promoting active engagement. I focus on creating
assignments and opportunities that encourage teacher candidates to make meaningful
connections between the college classroom setting and in their future classrooms.
I integrate experiential learning into my curricula to make the content relevant for teacher
candidates.
