Biography: Dr. Justin McAdara is an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Music at Middle Georgia State University, as well as an innovative electric trombonist whose career bridges the worlds of performance, education, and entrepreneurship. His professional path has encompassed real estate, insurance marketing, nonprofit leadership, and an active career as a professional musician.

A native of Southern California, Dr. McAdara earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in Jazz Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2020. His doctoral dissertation centered on his original invention, The InfiniSphere - the first trombone specifically designed for integration with electronic music technology. During his time at Illinois, he also founded Music Defying Boundaries, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding public engagement with experimental and improvised music through education, performance, and documentation.

Dr. McAdara’s performance credits span a wide range of ensembles and genres, including appearances with The Pacific Symphony, Holland America Cruise Lines, Adam Rudolph’s Go Organic Orchestra, The Everyone Orchestra, and Renee Baker’s Chicago Modern Orchestra. Most recently, he performed at Harlem’s legendary Apollo Theater with Russell Gunn’s Royal Krunk Jazz Orchestra, sharing the stage with renowned artists such as Jazzmeia Horn, Steffon Harris, Leon Timbo, Jessica Care Moore, Craig Harris, Miles Griffith, Oliver Lake, and Weedie Braihmah.

In recognition of his artistry and craftsmanship, Dr. McAdara is an endorsed artist with Best American Craftsman of Kansas City, Missouri.
