Biography: Clay Morton (Ph.D., University of Georgia, 2005) specializes in nineteenth- and twentieth-century American literature. He is the author of The Oral Character of Southern Literature (https://tinyurl.com/38wd2wsw) and has published essays on William Faulkner (Storytelling), the Southern Agrarians (Conflict in Southern Writing and elsewhere), Tennessee Williams (Tennessee Williams Annual Review), honors pedagogy (Culture in Focus), Georgia authors John Donald Wade and Chelsea Rathburn (New Georgia Encyclopedia), Philip K. Dick (Storytelling), nineteenth-century rhetorical education (South Atlantic Review), and William Gilmore Simms (Southern Studies). His recent research has focused on autism and the literary imagination. He is one of the creators of the satirical picture book Why Johnny Doesn't Flap (http://goo.gl/II4TYC). Recent courses include Honors American Literature surveys, Honors Humanities, and English 3500, Nineteenth-Century American Poetry and Prose. Dr. Morton served as Director of the MGA Honors Program from 2009 to 2024 and as Administrative Coordinator of the Georgia Collegiate Honors Council from 2014 to 2024.
