Teaching Philosophy:

As a nurse with experience in the emergency room (ER), intensive care unit (ICU), and operating room (OR), I’ve had the opportunity to care for patients in some of the most critical moments of their lives. Over the years, I’ve also had the chance to support and mentor new nurses and students in clinical settings and as the Nursing Retention and NCLEX Success Coach at Middle Georgia State University, I have been able to support students through their journey in nursing school. These experiences have inspired me to pursue a path in nursing education. I bring a strong foundation in patient care, leadership, and a genuine desire to help future nurses grow.

I believe that nursing students learn best when they feel supported, respected, and challenged. My goal is to create a learning environment where students can ask questions, practice skills, and build confidence in their abilities. I see my role as a guide; someone who shares real-life examples, encourages critical thinking, and helps students connect classroom knowledge with hands-on practice.

Because of my background in high-acuity areas, I understand the importance of staying calm under pressure, thinking quickly, and working as a team. These are skills I hope to pass on to students, not only by teaching them clinical knowledge but by helping them develop sound judgment, resilience, and compassion.

With a Master of Science in Nursing Administration, I also value the importance of leadership, communication, and organization in nursing. I hope to help students see the bigger picture of healthcare and how they can grow into strong, effective professionals; whether at the bedside or in leadership roles.

As I move into higher education, I’m committed to learning how to be the best educator I can be. I’m open to feedback, eager to learn from experienced faculty, and excited to support students in their journey to becoming safe, skilled, and caring nurses.
