Office Hours: | I am on campus on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and sometimes on Fridays. I am generally here from 9:30-3:00. It is best to make an appointment if you want to guarantee that I will be in my office. |
Biography: | I was born in Gainesville Florida. I moved quite a bit as a child but my family settled here in Macon Georgia in 1993. I attended Macon State College in 1997 to begin work on my degree and finished my core curriculum here on this Macon campus. I graduated from Middle Georgia College and State University in 2002 with a degree in Marketing and Spanish. I lived in Spain for a year and taught English as a second language. After that, I attended graduate school in Valdosta Georgia where I earned a Master's degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology and a Specialist's degree in School Psychology. Upon finishing my degree I moved back to Macon to begin working in the Jones County School System. After seven years in the public schools I started teaching here at MGA full time. I am married and I have a daughter. |

Professional Experience: | I worked for the public school system as a School psychologist for 7 years. During this time I was able to work with parents, teachers and children to best meet the needs and foster the strengths of children with and without disabilities in the public schools. This time in the public schools allowed me the opportunity to work with children from ages 3-21, from varying backgrounds and with various strengths and weaknesses. I began teaching at Middle Georgia College full time and earned the title of Assistant Chair within a few years. I served as the Assistant Chair for 2 years. In the summer of 2018 I assumed the role of program coordinator for the Psychology department. Throughout the years at MGA I have worked with Dr. Michael Gibbons on the research endeavors of the Center for Applied Learning in Research (CARE) where I am the Director. The CARE center has done many projects in cooperation with community partners. |
