Biography: | Dr. Keri Wilbur is a Professor of Nursing at Middle Georgia State University in Macon, Georgia, and served as the RNBSN program coordinator for many years at MGA. Dr. Wilbur is currently teaching in the PLBSN track. Dr. Wilbur obtained her BSN at Georgia College and State University in 2001 and completed both her MSN and Ed.D at the University of Phoenix. Dr. Wilbur has over 22 years of nursing experience, with a background and area of expertise in emergency nursing. Since entering nursing academia, Dr. Wilbur has taught in various subject areas to include leadership/management, professionalism, medical-surgical courses, nursing research, community health nursing, physical assessment, and many others. Dr. Wilbur has abundant knowledge regarding teaching online and distance education courses, but also enjoys teaching in the traditional classroom setting. Dr. Wilbur’s extensive experience with online instruction, as well as her traditional instruction opportunities, paved the way for her to be awarded the 2017 MGA Excellence in Teaching award. Dr. Wilbur is well-known for serving as a professional role model for students, exhibiting accessibility and connectivity with students, and promoting student engagement. Focus areas for research and publication for Dr. Wilbur include student engagement in distance learning, educational empathy, incivility, and best practices in online instruction. In her spare time, Dr. Wilbur enjoys spending quality time with her four children ranging in age from 10 to 20. They enjoy spending time at the ball fields, outdoors, and being active in church. |
