Academy Academics
Map to Greatness
For students enrolled in The Georgia Academy, advisement plays a critical role to help students successfully reach their goals. Students receive guidance from the academic advisors in consultation with the students' High School counselor to plan a map for completion of their associate degree while concurrently completing the High School Diploma. It is important to note that the 60 Credit hour description for the associate degree does not necessarily include all courses required for students to meet their particular degree field requirements.
Academy Graduation Requirements
To complete The Georgia Academy graduation requirements a student must complete all High School Graduation Requirements. Additionally, a student must complete a minimum of 15 credit hours in residence and to earn an unweighted GPA of at least 3.0.
Academy Advisement
Student Advisement initially takes place when a student is accepted to the Academy. Additional opportunities are available throughout the semester to assist students to reach their academic goals. Advisement at the Academy includes much more than course selection and registration. Our goal is to work in a transformational way to help students become elite scholars, lifelong learners and community partners working to make the world a better place. Students are advised in taking on leadership opportunities, navigating university academics, and engaging with our community with integrity in a relevant way.
Academic Success
The minimum standard for success at The Georgia Academy requires a 3.0 GPA, however, we are proud that the majority of Academy students excel and finish with greater than a 3.7 GPA. Following graduation from high school, 100% of Academy students earn HOPE scholarship and more than 90% earn Zell Miller Scholarship as they work towards a baccalaureate degree within the University System of Georgia. For more information on requirements for HOPE and ZELL please see GaFutures.
