The Emerging Leader award recognizes a registered nurse who, during the past two years, has demonstrated strong leadership in her or his profession at the local, regional or national level. Pierce, who was nominated by the Old Capital chapter of GNA, was lauded for “making a difference in Georgia” through group-oriented activities, her display of personal leadership skills and her contributions to educational programs.
Pierce joined the faculty of what is now Middle Georgia State three years ago. She is a graduate of the former Macon State College, earning an A.S.N. in 1996 and B.S.N. in 2005. She went on to complete a master’s in nursing with specialization in nursing education at Walden University in Minneapolis and a doctorate of nursing practice at the former Medical College of Georgia.
