The Knights had three sports in action this week. One team ended its season while two hit the winter break on a high point.

Football: The Knights traveled to Salem, VA to play in the National Club Football Association (NCFA) National Championship. The team was 11-0 and ranked #1 headed into the contest. The Knights started out driving the ball well but a mishandled snap on a field goal attempt ended the drive. The defense stood tall and got the ball back and the Knights were able to take an early 7-0 lead. The Coppin State Eagles (Baltimore, MD) fought back and took a 16-0 halftime lead after several turnovers by the Knights. The Knights were able to get another score in the third quarter to make it a 17 point game at 30-13 but could not get closer and the game ended with a 38-13 score. The Knights finished the season at 11-1 and as the South Atlantic Conference Champions for the second straight year.

Men’s Basketball: The Knights had two games in the past week, losing the first game to Chattahoochee Valley CC on Wednesday 79-64 and winning their first conference game of the season (1-2 in GCAA play) over Albany Tech 62-59 on Saturday night. The Knights were tied at 59 with Albany Tech when Javaris Hooks (Americus, GA) hit a 3 pointer to with 3.3 seconds remaining to give the Knights the win. The Knights are now 4-7 on the season and will be off until January 8 for the winter break.

In the loss to CVCC, the Knights were led by Roshaun Milline (Milledgeville, GA) with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Ryan Wilkins (Savannah, GA) added 13 points and Hooks had 11 and 4 assists. In the win against Albany Tech, the Knights were led by Hooks with 13 points while Milline added 11 points and 8 rebounds, and Jalen Lewis (Lithonia, GA) added 10 points. Brandon Ingleton (Woodstock, GA) led the team in rebounds with 10 and had 9 points to go with 2 blocks and 2 steals. Jay Robertson (Warner Robins, GA) led the team with 5 assists in the game.

Women’s basketball: The women’s team also went 1-1 on the week losing 53-73 to Darton State College but ending the week with a 70-59 win over Albany Tech. Their record stands at 6-3 on the season while 3-2 in the GCAA.

The Knights were led by Va’Queshia Hall (Howard HS) with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocks in the loss to Darton. Tascianna Taylor (Central Macon) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds for the Knights while Jada Haynes (Savannah, GA) added 5 assists. The win over Albany Tech saw the first triple-double for the team in 3 starters in double digits led by Haynes with 18. Hall had a triple-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 blocks. Deundria Clark (Atlanta, GA) added 13 points and 6 assists while Jademone’ Jones (Savannah, GA) grabbed 14 rebounds.
