Aspiring CPA and lawyer Mary Awoyeye is a Middle Georgia State junior at age 18, thanks to
the Move on When Ready dual-enrollment program.

Full Name: Jesudunsin Mary Awoyeye.

Age: 18.

Hometown: Lagos, Nigeria.

Residence: Southwest High School, where she participated in Future Business Leaders of
America and a book club.

Family: "My family includes my parents, Julius and Adesola Awoyeye, and my siblings,
Abigail, Deborah, Emmanuel, Julius and Joseph."

Employment: Student assistant with the Office of Student Life.

Degree Objective: Bachelor of Science in Business with a major in Accounting and a minor in
Spanish.

Class Rank: Junior.

Activities: Secretary, International Students and Studies Association, President's Torch
Society, Accounting Association.

Career Goals: "I want to become a Certified Public Accountant as well as a lawyer. One day I
hope to open up a firm combining the two, servicing small and medium-sized businesses."

She chose Middle Georgia State because … I was a 'Move on When Ready' student so I started
college while in high school. The schools around me that offered a dual-enrollment program
were Middle Georgia State and Central Georgia Technical College. I chose Middle Georgia
State University because I liked the campus and some of my siblings were attending
there."

The one thing that surprised her about Middle Georgia State was … "The warm atmosphere. I
was a bit scared to start college at 16 because not only was I going to be younger than most
of the other students, but I was really introverted and shy. However, my sister pushed me to
join the International Students and Studies Association and I made my first couple of
friends and slowly started to come out of my shell. I came to realize how great the school
was because I became more involved and developed tremendous school pride."

Her favorite professor is … "I'm not good at choosing favorites. I enjoy professors who make
their classes interesting and further my love for a subject, such as Marina Spears' English
class. I've been enjoying all of my Accounting and other Business classes so I'm grateful to
all the professors who have enriched my education."

Her favorite place to study is … "The study rooms on the second floor of the Macon Campus
Library. I never had a designated study spot before, but as my classes get harder there is
greater need for structure in my study habits. The second floor of the library is peaceful
and a great place to focus."

One thing people don’t know about her is … "I once wanted to be an actress or something else
in entertainment because I watch so many movies and TV shows."

Her friends make fun of her because … "I exaggerate everything. If I start getting stressed
I start saying I'm going to drop out of school, even though I've never had any intentions of
doing so."

The one person she'd most like to meet is … "Jesus Christ. I think the most interesting part
of history has to do with who he was and what was occurring in the world around him."

Five years from now she sees herself ... "Working as CPA and getting ready for law school."
