Dr. David Fuller, dean of Middle Georgia State University's School of Education, was among the educators invited to the White House on April 13 to hear Dr. Jill Biden discuss an initiative called Operation Educate the Educators.

Operation Educate the Educators is designed to keep educators and other stakeholders up to date on programs that help ensure quality education for military children.

To celebrate the Month of the Military Child and as part of her Joining Forces initiative, Biden, a lifelong educator and military mom, participated in events in support of military children’s education.

Fuller was invited because Middle Georgia State University is one of more than 100 colleges and universities that have agreed to a set of guiding principles as put forth by the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) and the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC). The principles introduce the subject of military-connected children in the curriculum to help prepare future teachers in identifying and meeting the needs of children from military families.

"Our faculty, teacher candidates, school partners, schoolchildren and the community will benefit by teachers being more responsive in identifying and meeting the needs of the military-connected child," Fuller said.
