MGA Team Makes Hackathon Competition Finals with Ride Share App

Two faculty members from MGA's School of Information Technology - Dr. Myungjae Kwak, and Dr. Scott C. Spangler - engaged two undergraduate students, Michael Koohang and Deep Patel, in the three-day competition held August 11-13. The team created and coded a ride share application for mobile phones and websites, which will allow high school students to share rides to sporting events. The application created has a built-in panic button for alerting parents to unsafe conditions or drivers and GPS tracking of the driver and riders. The application allows for riders and drivers to upload profiles, select ride shares and access rides for events across Georgia.
Competition finals were held August 13. The winning team will be announced on August 31.
The TAG IOT Hackathon included some of Georgia's most sophisticated hackers in the field of information technology.
