Logan M. Gibbs, a senior English major, has been named Middle Georgia State University’s 2020 Academic Recognition Day Scholar.

Each year, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia (USG) honors a student from each of the 26 institutions in the system who best represents the highest scholastic ideals. Students chosen  carry 4.0 GPAs and reflect the system’s best qualities.

Academic Recognition Day began 32 years ago as a celebration of Georgia students’ academic achievement. The honorees receive a resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives along with a letter of commendation from the University System chancellor.

In addition to being a President’s List scholar, Gibbs plays soccer for the MGA Knights. Among other accomplishments, she has presented scholarly papers at undergraduate conferences and taught writing to area high school students through the English department’s Knight Writers camp.

After she graduates from Middle Georgia State later this year, Gibbs plans to pursue graduate degrees in English with the goal of becoming either a high school teacher or college professor.
