Finding Greatness: Caleb Prince

Studying cyber forensics as part of his IT degree program, Caleb Prince hopes to eventually work for the U.S. Department of Defense.

Full Name: Caleb Scott Prince.         

Age: 21.

Hometown & Residence: Fort Valley.

High School: Peach County High School, where he helped tutor other students in computer science and finance classes.  

Family: Father, Scott Prince; sisters, Marisa Prince and Marley Prince; grandparents, Marsha and Steve Prince; mother, Natalie Prince.

Employment: Full-time student.

Degree Objective: Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, cyber forensics concentration.

Class Rank: Junior. 

Primary Campuses: Warner Robins, Online.

Activities: MGA-related Discord servers.

Career Goals: “I would like to work for the Department of Defense, working in cyber security or server administration, if not project management and team leading. I did very well in a project management course and developed my leadership skills. I enjoy working with computers a lot and I feel like cyber security is bigger deal now than it was a decade ago, and I would like to be part of that line of defense.”   

He chose Middle Georgia State University because … “Mostly, it has the degree I wanted to pursue. I started out at another university and liked it, but it did not have the degree I wanted. I came to MGA to get an IT degree. I had also heard that MGA offers more technology related courses aside from the IT degree. MGA has been a good experience. I have met many nice people and have had great professors.”

The greatest thing he discovered about Middle Georgia State was … “The flexibility of the courses and the nice professors. (Thank you, Dr. Floyd, Dr. Stines, and Dr. Spangler!) The professors at this institution are very kind and understanding, and the courses can all be taken online. I even took a geology lab course online, without having to attend in person. You can do all of your work no matter where you are.”

His greatest academic experience as a Middle Georgia State student has been … “Becoming a leader for a team project that I realized wasn’t going very well. I talked with the professor and he helped me take on a greater leadership role, and we turned things around. (Thank you, Dr. Spangler!)”

To him, “greatness” means … “Not giving up on what you really, truly believe in. I think that greatness means taking your fears and conquering them - making them your triumphs instead of letting them overwhelm you.”

In five years … “I expect to be living independently, working in cyber forensics (maybe as part of a cyber security team), and helping my family.”
