This is required by the Transportation Security Administration as of 2004, where it was mandated that all flight school employees, and for visitors that frequent the campus more than twice a semester take security awareness training. New federal regulations require that all employees be trained on the new Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) label elements and new Safety Data Sheets. As an employee of the State of Georgia, you have the right to know about hazardous chemicals in the workplace. This right is guaranteed under Georgia’s “Public Employee Hazardous Chemical Protection and Right to Know Act of 1988” (O.C.G.A. 45-22-2). This is required of all employees that may come in contact with a minor during their course of employment on campus. The office of Human Resources will have all new employees read the training material and sign an acknowledgement of understanding. Once this is on file there are no annual requirements to repeat this process at this time.
