Enterprise Information Systems

The purpose of the Office of Enterprise Information Systems is to provide timely service response to and resolution of technical problems associated with the banner student information system SWORDS. These services include:

  • Maintain the Banner student information system
  • Maintain BannerWeb
  • Support third-party interfaces to Banner
  • Maintain servers used by Banner and interfaces to Banner
  • Write and maintain programs associated with Banner
  • Provide end-user support for Banner and BannerWeb
  • Provide training in Banner use

The Office of Enterprise Information Systems also provides reports in a timely manner to the University System of Georgia which includes, but is not limited to:

  • FIRS (Facility Information Reporting System)
  • RURS (Room Utilization Reporting System)
  • FARS (Financial Aid Reporting System)
  • High School Feedback Reports
  • Graduate Salary Reports

To provide highly available, enterprise-wide, services and support for the academic and administrative communities of Middle Georgia State University.

IT Services

The purpose of the Office of IT Services is to manage and maintain the MGA's computer systems, software and peripheral devices for staff, faculty, students, classroom and computer lab use. These services also include campus-wide support for audio-visual equipment. The services include installation and support for:

  • General student support for Desire2Learn (D2L)
  • Support for use of personal web folders
  • Support for wireless networks
  • Student Email, D2L, and BannerWeb password help
  • Smartpodiums

Network Administration

Network Administration functions and responsibilities:

  • To develop and maintain a technical infrastructure to deliver academic programs and student services on campus and throughout the region in pursuit of the goal of anytime/anywhere teaching and learning
  • To develop and maintain a technical infrastructure to deliver management information and administrative services on campus and at selected remote locations in a timely, accurate, and secure manner
  • To enhance the campus network for high-speed, broadband access by students, faculty, and staff requiring real-time interactive instructional and administrative services
  • To enhance the campus network with safeguards against security breaches originating on and off campus and to establish proactive notification and response systems
  • To establish authentication services to restrict network access to authorized users
  • To provide immediate service response to and resolution of access problems with the campus network
  • To investigate and deploy wireless network technologies as needs and technologies warrant
  • To conduct research on and prototype technologies for future integration within the technical infrastructure
  • Develop risk/vulnerability assessment and Campus Security Plan in response to this assessment
  • Conduct feasibility plan for network directory
