First place in the best undergraduate research
awards went to Rachel Maddox for her paper
“Heart of Literature: Intertextuality in
Frankenstein and Heart of Darkness.” John Legg
took second place for his study of competing
historical commemorations associated with the
U.S.-Dakota War. Third place went to Katie Gray
for her ecocritical analysis of J.D. Salinger’s “The
Catcher in the Rye.”
