Hosted by District 145 State Representative Tangie Herring, the Pink & Pearls Party is an event focused on breast cancer awareness, education, and early detection. Medical professionals, survivors, and caregivers from across the region shared knowledge, experiences, and resources to support women’s health in Middle Georgia. The Pink and Pearls Party was held on October 30, 2025 from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Center for Middle Georgia Studies (Library 170, 100 University Pkwy, Macon, Ga 31206)

The Center for Middle Georgia Studies hosted the Georgia Studies Forum, the first annual symposium on the Center's faculty scholars, on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 2 pm. MGA faculty, staff, and students were invited to an afternoon of thought-provoking presentations:

• Dr. Matt Jennings | Carolyn Wynn Smalley Estate Scholar and Professor of History | "Finding Stephensville" 
• Dr. Monica Miller | CMGS Faculty Fellow, Carolyn Wynn Smalley Distinguished Chair of Georgia Studies, and Associate Professor of English | "The 'Georgia Surreal': Weirdness, Music, and Modernity"
• Dr. Tyler Achatz | Former CMGS Faculty Fellow and Assistant Professor of Biology | "Parasite Within: The Hidden Zoo"

As part of MGA's Public Safety Week, the CMGS hosted a Lunch & Learn session on responding to active security threats, presented by Chief J. Tripp Mitchell. Sessions were held at 12:00 pm on two of MGA's campuses, including in Macon at the Center for Middle Georgia Studies on September 8, 2025 and in Cochran at Alderman Hall on September 12, 2025.  Read more about Public Safety Week 2025 on InsideMGA.

Dr. Kristie Roberts-Lewis and Dr. Rod McRae, led a hands-on workshop designed specifically for non-profit organizations to discover how artificial intelligence can amplify their missions and streamline operations. In just 45 minutes, organizations learned to use Al tools for grant writing, social media content creation, and donor communications through three practical activities using their own devices. Nonprofit leaders gathered in the Center for Middle Georgia Studies on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 from 12:00-1:00 pm and left with immediately applicable skills, ethical guidelines, and a clear road map for integrating Al into their organization's workflow. Read more about this event from InsideMGA.
