Museum of Aviation Foundation

The Center for Middle Georgia Studies is partnering with the Museum of Aviation Foundation to strengthen educational outreach, community engagement, and innovation throughout the region.

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to educational experiences for MGA students and communities across the region, especially in STEM fields.

Robins Financial Credit Union

The Center for Middle Georgia Studies is partnering with Robins Financial Credit Union to offer financial literacy education to MGA students.

This partnership will expand consistent financial literacy programming across the University’s Macon, Cochran, Dublin, and Eastman campuses to engage students through interactive learning, mentorship, and incentive-based activities focused on building strong financial habits.

City of Eastman

The Center for Middle Georgia Studies has partnered with the City of Eastman to conduct a comprehensive housing market analysis, assessing current housing conditions, identifying market trends, and providing strategic recommendations for future housing development.

In collaboration with Dr. Greg George, Director of MGA's Center for Economic Analysis, and Dr. Rebecca Nees, Associate Professor of Sociology, the Center will provide the City of Eastman with the necessary insights to guide housing policies, attract investment, and support sustainable community development.

Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce

The Center for Middle Georgia Studies, in collaboration with Dr. Greg George, Associate Professor of Economics and the Director of the Center for Economic Analysis, has developed a regional workforce asset map for the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce that examines the strengths, needs, and opportunities within Middle Georgia's labor market. The project identifies workforce assets, analyzes gaps in the talent pipeline, and assesses opportunities to strengthen skills training and education aligned with industry demand.

The study will provide businesses, educators, and policymakers with data-driven insights to inform future workforce development strategies, support economic competitiveness, and strengthen the region's workforce.

Grand Lodge of Georgia

The Center for Middle Georgia Studies, in collaboration with University Archivist Ashley Bennett and Dr. Susan Asbury, Assistant Professor of History, has partnered with the Grand Lodge of Georgia (Georgia Freemasons) to preserve and digitize approximately 150 years of the organization's historical records, dating back to the 19th century. The project gives student interns hands-on experience in archival work and digital preservation while helping them gain practical skills and safeguard an important part of Georgia's history.

Upon completion, the digitized collection will be permanently housed in Middle Georgia State University's Archives, where it will be preserved and made available for future research.

YES Academy

The Center for Middle Georgia Studies has partnered with Georgia Power to deliver soft skills training to high school students across Middle Georgia. Through Georgia Power's workforce development initiative, the You’re Employed and Skilled (YES) Academy, students participate in four weeks of employability skills training led by organizations throughout the region. As a program partner, the Center provides one week of instruction focused on developing the professional skills students need to succeed in college and the workforce.

The Center facilitated training for students at Wilkinson County High School during the spring and will expand its partnership with Georgia Power in the coming school year by providing instruction for students at multiple high schools throughout Middle Georgia.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace

The Center for Middle Georgia Studies has partnered with the national nonprofit Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) to conduct the first comprehensive study of the organization's bed delivery program. Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a volunteer-led nonprofit with local chapters across the country dedicated to ensuring that no child sleeps on the floor by building and delivering beds for children in need.

Through this project, CMGS will work with faculty from MGA's School of Education and Behavioral Sciences to analyze survey data collected from families who receive beds through local SHP chapters. The study will examine how receiving a bed influences children's overall wellbeing, providing valuable insights into the impact of SHP's mission on the lives of children and families.

United Way of Central Georgia

The Center for Middle Georgia Studies is working to complete a comprehensive program analysis for the United Way of Central Georgia. CMGS Scholar in Residence, Dr. Sarah Roche is leading the project with assistance from CMGS graduate assistants.

Older Adult Speaker Series

The Center for Middle Georgia Studies has partnered with Carlyle Place, an Atrium Health Navicent senior living community, to provide ongoing educational programming for residents. Through this partnership, Middle Georgia State University faculty and staff deliver monthly presentations on a variety of topics that promote lifelong learning and community engagement.
