Mission and Vision
The Center for Middle Georgia Studies (CMGS) is dedicated to addressing pressing issues within the Middle Georgia region. Recognizing the diverse and broad scope of these challenges, we believe that collaborative research endeavors are essential to fulfilling our mission and goals.
Proposal Overview We propose to integrate students more deeply into the CMGS's work, leveraging their academic experiences and research interests to further our objectives. This initiative aims to:
- Encourage student-led research on Middle Georgia issues
- Expand service learning and internship opportunities
- Foster collaboration between students and local agencies
Implementation Strategy
- Student Research Support
- Invite students to utilize the CMGS for research projects related to Middle Georgia issues.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to students on their research endeavors.
- Resource Development
- Direct students to consult with Librarians for resource development for research/projects related to the Middle Georgia region.
- House these resources within the CMGS for easy student access.
- Engagement Opportunities
- Coordinate regular meeting times for students to discuss their projects with CMGS staff.
- Facilitate connections between students and local agencies working on related issues.
- Center Accessibility
- Make the Center available for student use during standard university operating hours:
- Monday - Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Expected Outcomes
- Enhanced student engagement with local issues.
- Increased production of relevant research on Middle Georgia.
- Strengthened connections between the university and community organizations.
