Application Instructions
1. Admissions Info & Prerequisites
We enthusiastically welcome applications from all individuals who meet the admission requirements. To ensure fairness, qualified applicants are reviewed holistically and considered in order of their overall strengths until all spaces are filled. Because interest in the program is high, we may not be able to offer admission to everyone who qualifies, but every application receives thoughtful and careful consideration.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and we encourage you to apply by the priority deadline for the best opportunity to be considered.
Note: Acceptance to Middle Georgia State University does not automatically enroll you in any of the Education cohort programs. You must submit a completed application packet to the Department of Teacher Education and Social Work to be considered for admittance to any School of Education & Behavioral Sciences's cohort program.
Prerequisites
- Admittance to MGA and in “good” standing with the university. Disciplinary action at Middle Georgia State University and/or any other institution that the student has attended or while in the military may prevent admission.
- Earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on all courses to include transfer, transient, or taken as a part of a prior degree.
- Individual Program Admissions Requirements must be met and can be found in the current academic catalog.
2. Application Packet & Required Forms
All forms can be filled in electronically by downloading to your computer, fill-in, save, and print copy for submission.

- Three Recommendation Forms: email the form link https://forms.gle/Naqww22mFKCSHHBt8 to the persons providing your references. Current students must have at least two of the forms completed by professors from MGA or previous institutions. If you have not attended school in more than 2 years, these recommendations may come from professional references.
- Transfer Students Only: Copy of Official Transcripts from ALL previous higher education institutions (technical schools, colleges, or universities) must be submitted to the Admissions Office for review.
- Applicant needs to submit a copy of the score report sheet for GACE 351 - Ethics for Teachers as required for admission to a program. You may register for the GACE 351 - Ethics for Teachers by visiting the Pearson (ES) website and selecting GACE 351 - Ethics for Teachers. There is a $30 exam fee online.
- You will need a MyPSC account before registering for the GACE 351 - Ethics for teachers. You may create a MyPSC account at www.gapsc.com. Please create your MyPSC account using your legal name as shown on a driver's license or other ID documentation.
- Please note if you have taken and passed the GACE Ethics 360 exam prior to July 1, 2025, you may submit your certificate of achievement.
It is the applicant's responsibility to forward the recommendation Google Form to the persons providing references on your behalf.
Collect all documents and send ONE email containing all of the following required documents in a pdf format to ; the subject line should read: First Last Name_Application Packet (ex: Jane Doe_Application Packet). Incomplete application packets will not be processed.
A complete packet includes:
- Copy of completed and signed Application Packet Checklist
- GACE 351 - Ethics for Teachers – Program Certificate
- Three Recommendation Forms (Academic or Professional). Email the form link https://forms.gle/Naqww22mFKCSHHBt8 to the persons providing your references.
- Transfer Students Only: Copy of Official Transcripts from ALL previous higher education institutions (technical schools, colleges, or universities).
3. Admissions Process & Timeline
Fall-Early Spring
March-Summer
- Once students have completed all application requirements the Department of Teacher Education and Social Work will request a Pre-Service Certificate from the GaPSC.
- Upon receipt of a copy of the Pre-Service Certificate by the Department of Teacher Education and Social Work the prospective candidate will be notified in writing by the Department of Teacher Education and Social Work of their acceptance.
- Upon acceptance, students in the Para to Teacher Cohort are required to submit a Principal's Statement of Support.
- Note: The Clinical Placement calendar is aligned with the placement school district's calendar, not MGA's academic calendar.

How to Submit Recommendations
- Select three potential references from your educational and/or professional experience. Current students must have at least two of the forms completed by professors from MGA or previous institutions. If you have not attended school in more than 2-years, these recommendations may come from professional references.

- The persons providing your references must complete and submit the recommendation forms on the candidate’s behalf.
Please note: It is the applicant's responsibility to send the recommendation Google Form to the persons providing references on their behalf.
How to Register for the GACE Ethics for Teachers Assessment
- Create or update your MyPSC account at gapsc.com using your legal name as shown on a driver's license or other ID document. Select testing reason #7, “I am taking the Georgia Educator Ethics assessment.” Select Middle Georgia State University on the Program tab, then select GACE Ethics for Teachers (Test code: 351) on the Assessment tab.
- GaPSC sends your profile and eligibility information to ETS.
- ETS sends you an email with a link to the Educator Ethics system.
- Access the GACE Ethics for Teachers (Test code: 351) assessment system, select Test Takers under Registration, create your account, register, and pay the $30 fee. Be sure to indicate Middle Georgia State University as a score recipient.
