Institutional Research And Data Strategy
The Office of Institutional Research and Data Strategy (OIRDS) is the official source for information regarding Middle Georgia State University.
Part of the Provost's Office, OIRDS collects, analyzes, warehouses, and disseminates institutional data in a timely manner to support strategic and operational planning, policy formation, and effective decision making. This includes official reporting, ad hoc data requests, internal surveys, and maintaining accurate data for the University System of Georgia. Additionally, OIRDS will adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Association of Institutional Research in order to uphold the integrity and accountability of the office.
Data Use and Confidentiality
Data at the OIRDS are held in the strictest confidence and will not be publicly shared beyond Open Record requirements. All users of University data are expected to be knowledgeable about FERPA.
Faculty and Staff of Middle Georgia State University should keep the following guidelines in mind when using personally identifiable data.
- University data is not to be emailed to non-@mga.edu email addresses
- University data should not be stored on cloud services (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc). The only exception is the University's official OneDrive service
- Aggregated, non-identifiable data may be shared and stored more widely
