Student Organizations

Accounting Association

In the Middle Georgia State University Accounting Association, join other students as they network with area accountants, learn about accounting opportunities, expand career goals, and have fun.

How to join: Obtain an application at the School of Business reception area on the 3rd floor of the PSC building. Complete and turn in the application, with payment, to administrative assistants, School of Business, or to Dr. Carol Sargent, PSC 384.

Internal Audit Club

A group of accounting students who want to learn about how to address organization risk and prepare for annual statewide Internal Audit Case Competition.  The competition is for teams of three and winners can get cash prizes along with priceless mentoring and professional experience (1st place = $1,000; 2nd place = $500; 3rd place = $300 each).

Internal audit is a special kind of auditor that helps organizations find risk (things that could go wrong) and attempts to prevent and address those identified risks.  It is much wider than just financial statements and so often exercises practical business skills rather than just technical accounting rules.  Participating is a great way to see if you might like a larger professional landscape in your career.  Inquire to Dr. Carol Sargent, PSC 384.
