Health Administration

Welcome to the Health Service Administration Department at Middle Georgia State University. The Health Service Administration Department is designed to provide students the educational requirements allowing them to assume various roles in the healthcare or sport management system. Students may select from two Bachelor Degree Options.

BS in Health Services Administration

This degree provides students with the opportunity to learn about current healthcare issues, business concepts, healthcare policies, quality improvement and efficiency of healthcare delivery, information systems, managed care, insurance and finance, accounting, budgeting and analyses used in diverse provider settings within the healthcare industry. The five concentrations enhance student learning outcomes.  Students can participate in an applied learning experience or complete a capstone project prior to graduation. This degree option can be obtained online through MGA Direct or on the Macon and Cochran Campuses.

BS in Sports Management

This degree provides students with the opportunity to incorporate ethical, legal, technical, and socio-cultural understanding in sport management analysis and decision making. Employ principles of financial, operations, communication, marketing, human resources management, and facility/event management in the sport and recreation environment. This four year degree can be obtained on either the Macon or Cochran campuses.

 

General Requirements and Procedures for Admission to the HLSA Program

1. Be accepted to Middle Georgia State University
2. Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.25 or better

An associate degree is not required for admission to the program. Students who have NOT completed an Associate Degree Program must complete a minimum of 30 hours of major electives, including a minimum of 18 hours of upper division HLSA coursework to equal 120 hours total.

Students who HAVE completed an associate degree in an Allied Health Career Program, and after review by the HLSA Department Chair, must complete a minimum 9 hours of electives in order to complete 39 hours of upper division coursework and equal 120 hours minimum total.
