How do I get admitted into programs with internal admission requirements?
Admission to MGA is required prior to admission to any program. Admission to MGA as an undergraduate student does not automatically admit an individual to a program of study. Separate application processes are required for formal admission to such professional program. Details of program level admission requirements can be found on the individual program web pages.
How and when do I register?
Your next step upon acceptance is to contact an academic advisor to schedule an appointment to register for class. You may also attend an orientation session where you will be provided with important information about the college's policies and procedures, connected to available campus resources, and assisted with registering for your first semester of courses at the college. Advisor Contacts can be found at
https://www.mga.edu/advising/advisors.php or sign up for orientation at
https://www.mga.edu/orientation/
How quickly does MGA make admission decisions?
MGA accepts applications on a rolling basis. As soon as all required documents have been received to support an application a decision is usually generated within 7 business days. Seasonal volume can increase this processing time. Admitted students will received a letter by mail a few days after the decision is made. You can follow the process of your application at the application status check from
mga.edu/checkmystatus
How will I know my Admission Decision?
When a decision has been made it will be listed on the application status checker. An admitted student will be sent an official letter a few days after a decision is made which will then be followed by a letter with advisor appointment instructions.
What should I do if I am ineligible to attend MGA?
Applicants who fall below the minimum requirements for admission at MGA are encouraged to explore continuing their education at either a Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) school or another institutionally accredited postsecondary institution.
Do you have my application I submitted?
We download and process applications daily from GA Futures. You will receive a letter in the mail within a few days of applying that will list the documents required to complete your file. You can also check your application status by clicking on the Application Status Check on the main page of the website.
Why does my checklist say I need a final high school transcript?
MGA will admit you conditionally prior to your high school graduation date. Upon graduation, you are required to submit a final high school transcript providing diploma type and graduation date. However, we will allow you to register for classes based on your admission decision without receipt of the official final high school transcript. The final transcript will be reviewed for a final admission decision. In the event you no longer meet the admission requirement, your admission decision will change and your class schedule will be removed.
Why is my admission incomplete?
Incomplete admissions means there are one or more documents missing from your file that would allow your file to be reviewed for a decision.
Why is my application inactive?
Applicants who apply for an intended term, but do not enroll must reapply for a future term. Applications do not automatically roll over to the next term. Applicants should contact the office of admissions for their information to be udpated. If an applicant applied 3 or more terms ago a new application for admission must be submitted.
How can I get in-state tuition?
To be considered as an in-state resident for tuition programs, you or your parent(s) who claim you as a dependent must have resided in the state of Georgia within the last 12 consecutive months prior to enrollment at MGSU. If you feel you may qualify, submit the Residence Petition form and the supporting documents to the Office of Admissions. Documents can be mailed in, or they can be scanned and emailed to
. The Residence Petition can be found at
https://www.mga.edu/admissions/docs/Residence_Petition.pdf.
How do I update my enrollment term?
The admission application is valid for a total of three terms, including the term stated on the initial application and the two following terms of entry. To request a file be updated to a different semester contact the Office of Admissions or complete an update at
mga.edu/update. If it is past the 3 term limit the student must complete a new application for admission.
What is the application fee?
The application fee is $30, is non-refundable, and should be submitted electronically with the application through GA Futures using a credit card.
