Supporting Economic Development

During the 2015 fiscal year, Middle Georgia State University had an
economic impact of more than $227 million dollars in middle Georgia,
according to a report released this year by the University System of
Georgia. The University also accounted for 2,540 jobs, both on- and
off-campus, in its 13-county region.

The region studied to determine our economic impact included the
counties in which the University’s campuses are located – Bibb, Bleckley,
Dodge, Houston, and Laurens – as well as Jones, Monroe, Peach, Crawford,
Twiggs, Baldwin, Wilkinson, and Pulaski counties. The University has the
largest service area of any non-Atlanta-based institution in the state system.

2,500+ Beyond dollar figures, the University
is a substantial asset to area employers
professionals when it comes to human capital. Since
consolidation, our graduates - more than 80
percent of whom stay in the region - have
included more than 2,500 professionals in
the growing fields of aviation, business,
               education, healthcare, and information

As a university, we have a profound
impact on the lives of our students, on the
cultural life of Middle Georgia, and on the
               region’s economy.
