Secondary sources reported that technology is an enabler with most industries. It impacts both
businesses and residential security markets. Eighty-six percent (86%) of respondents would
require a service provider to use or provide a cell phone application. Being able to access and
control devices such as camera, thermostats, and lighting reflected varying levels of importance
in this survey.

Technology may not deter some from getting a security service, while others may simply not
find it affordable. However, they are still willing to acquire a security service. It is not surprising
that fifty-four percent (54%) indicated that they would not be willing to sacrifice technology to
save money.
