Pilot Career Development Program
Aviate is United’s industry-leading pilot career development program, offering aspiring and established pilots the most secure path to a United flight deck. As an Aviate university partner, current and former Middle Georgia State University students and instructors who apply and are successful in the Aviate selection process will join the program and benefit from the secure path to a lifelong career at United. Program Eligibility
To be eligible for the Aviate program candidates need to have:
- Completed two semesters of full-time coursework at Middle Georgia State University pursuing, or graduated with, an R-ATP eligible aviation major
- Be in good standing with your university and uphold their student code of conduct
- Hold a minimum of a Private Pilot Certificate
- Hold a valid FAA medical certificate that was originally issued as a first or second-class medical certificate
- Have no more than four primary training failures
Aviate Program Steps/Paths
For those who qualify and apply to Aviate at Middle Georgia State University, here are the steps they take on their path to United:
- Upon application completion and selection, they will interview, and upon acceptance receive a United qualified job offer
- They will then complete training at Middle Georgia State University
- After gaining the required certificates and ratings, participants will build flight experience to reach their ATP minimums
- Once able, they will then fly at an Aviate United Express (UAX) carrier or an Aviate Part 135 operator and build Pilot-In-Command (PIC) hours (i.e., fly as a Captain)
- Finally, after meeting all transition requirements and being approved by the Transition Board of Review, they will receive a United class date
