Have you graduated from an accredited high school or an accredited home school WITHIN the last five years and not attended college?
- Applicants applying for in state tuition must satisfy the lawful presence requirement. The most common documents that will satisfy this requirement are a Georgia Driver’s License or a copy of a certified birth certificate. For a complete list of approved documents, click here.
- All applicants must submit proof of immunization and any other supporting documents requested.
- Applicants who have a High School Certificate (also called a Certificate of Performance) or a Special Education Diploma will not be considered to be high school graduates for admission purposes.

Students must meet all of the following criteria for regular admission:
- High school diploma (The high school diploma must be issued from a high school accredited by a regional accrediting association, the Georgia Accrediting Commission, the Georgia Private School Accrediting Commission, the Accrediting Commission for Independent Study, or from a public school regulated by a school system and state department of education.)
- A minimum high school GPA of 2.0
- Meet or exceed one or more of the Reading/Writing criteria
- Have transferable credit from a regionally accredited institution for an Area A English course with a grade of "C" or higher OR
- Have a high school GPA of 2.5 or higher OR
- Score 480 or higher on SAT Evidence Based Reading and Writing section OR
- 17 or higher on the ACT English or ACT Reading OR
- 61 or higher on the Classic Accuplacer Reading Comprehension Test AND score 4 or higher on the Accuplacer WritePlacer Test OR
- Score 235 or higher on the Next Generation Accuplacer Reading Comprehension Test AND score 4 or higher on the Accuplacer WritePlacer Test
- Meet or exceed one or more of the Math criteria
- Have transferable credit from a regionally accredited institution for an Area A Math course with a grade of "C" or higher OR
- Have a high school GPA of 2.8 or higher OR
- Score 440 or higher on SAT Math section OR

Completion of 17 Required High School Curriculum Units (RHSC)All applicants for programs leading to the baccalaureate programs (B.S.) who graduated from high school less than five (5) years before the term they plan to enroll should have completed the Required High School Curriculum (RHSC) requirements specified by the University System of Georgia. Completion of the USG’s Required High School Curriculum (RHSC) requirements and graduation from a high school accredited by a regional accrediting association (such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) or the Georgia Accrediting Commission or from a public school regulated by a school system and state department of education. Students who graduated from high school in 2012 or later must present high school credits for seventeen (17) specified units. Students graduating from high school prior to 2012 must present 16 units. The 17 specified units for students who graduated in 2012 or later are:
- MATHEMATICS: Four (4) units of Mathematics, including Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry and a fourth year of advanced math or Mathematics I, II, III and a fourth unit of mathematics from the approved list.
- ENGLISH: Four (4) units of English which have as their emphasis grammar and usage, literature (American, English, World), and advanced composition skills.
- SCIENCE: Four (4) units of science, with at least one laboratory course from the life sciences and one laboratory course from the physical sciences. Georgia Public high School graduates must have at least one (1) unit of biology, one (1) unit of physical science or physics, one (1) unit of chemistry, earth science, environmental science, and one (1) unit of a fourth science.
- SOCIAL SCIENCE: Three (3) units of social science, with at least one (1) unit focusing on United States studies and one (1) unit focusing on world studies.
- FOREIGN LANGUAGE: Two (2) units in the same foreign language emphasizing speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Two (2) units of American Sign Language may be used to satisfy this requirement.
In addition to the RHSC, students are encouraged to take additional academic units in high school to improve their probability for admission and success.

Students admitted under the Access admission requirements may be required to participate in the Learning Support Program during their first year at MGA.

Graduates of an International High School
International Students: Middle Georgia State University offers a multitude of degree options for international students. International students wishing to be considered for admission must complete the steps listed below. If you have additional questions regarding international student admissions, please contact the Office of Admissions at 478.471.2725.

- Apply online and pay the $30 non-refundable fee!
- Foreign high school/secondary and post-secondary transcripts must be submitted to an International Credentials Evaluation Service for a course-by-course evaluation. The official evaluation document (prepared by the service provider) should then be sent directly to the Middle Georgia State University Admissions Office. For your convenience, several educational credential evaluation service providers are listed below.

- Submit an official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), IELTS (International English Language Testing System), Dulingo or Cambridge Test score report.

Middle Georgia State University will accept old and new SAT scores for admission purposes. Applicants may submit scores from either the old SAT or the new SAT (offered beginning spring 2016). Scores from the SAT or the ACT are required for all international students. Students must score at least 430 CR/440 M on the old SAT (taken before March 2016) or 480 Evidence Based Reading and Writing/440 Math on the new SAT (taken after March 2016), or 17 English or Reading/17 Math on ACT.
- International Students: Middle Georgia State University offers several degree programs online. International Students who wish to pursue an online degree while remaining in their own country should follow steps 1-3 and notify the Office of Admissions that you wish to be a distance learner studying in your own country.Submit an affidavit of financial support, a letter from your family or sponsor stating they will pay for your education, and certified bank records showing three months of transactions with a balance of at least $24,625 per year available to you for your educational and living expenses in the United States. Please be advised that Middle Georgie State University does not offer a financial aid program for International Students.
- Review and comply with the Middle Georgia State University Mandatory Student Insurance Program.
- International students are required to submit proof of immunization for certain communicable diseases. Immunization certification must be submitted on the form supplied by the college. Health insurance is mandatory for international students.
- Submit additional information as requested by the Admissions Office.
