Scholastic recognition at graduation will be given to baccalaureate students who complete at least 50% of course work at Middle Georgia State University and who earn a cumulative institutional GPA of at least 3.5. Honor cords are provided by MGA at the graduation ceremony. Other MGA recognized student organizations will provide their own stoles or cords.

Student would need to re-apply to the University and then see their Advisor to review new degree requirements for the new academic catalog year. Student will also need to complete a new Application for Graduation.

Yes, honors are indicated on both official and unofficial MGA transcripts.

Tickets will be available online. Each graduate will be eligible to receive tickets ( number TBA) for guests, including children, and each guest must have a ticket. To login to the website, you will use your MGA email address and a temporary password will be emailed to you in order to access the home screen to reserve your tickets.

The Office of the Registrar does not entertain requests for additional or duplicate diplomas. Incorrect diplomas must be returned to the Registrar within 45 days before the issuance of the corrected document. A replacement diploma will be issued at no charge. There may be instances where a diploma issued for a previous graduation is destroyed or lost over time. Students desiring a replacement must make a request in writing to the Office of the Registrar with an explanation of the circumstances, and pay the current graduation fee again. Diplomas older than 5 years will not be replaced.

Upon completion of the Application for Graduation, a payment of the $35.00 for undergraduates or $50.00 for graduates can be paid in the Bursar's Office or online through SWORDS.

Students should complete an application for degree in the Registrar's Office at least two semesters before their expected graduation term. Certificate-seeking students should complete an application for the certificate at least one semester before their expected graduation term.

The name and phone number of the Graduation Coordinator who reviewed your record and issued the graduation audit letter will be at the bottom of your letter. Email is the preferred method of correspondence with the Graduation Coordinator.

You should allow 7 to 10 business days for processing of the initial degree audit. Once complete, a copy of your Graduation audit letter will be mailed to you via USPS. The person who issued the Graduation audit letter will be accessible via email to answer any questions. At mid-term, another (interim) audit of your degree progress takes place. If it is determined at that time you will not complete the requirements for the degree in that term, your petition to graduate will become inactive; notification will be mailed via USPS. It is the students' responsibility to reapply for a future term.

Diplomas will be mailed to your address of record (on file in the SWORDS-Banner student information system) approximately six to eight weeks after graduation. Diplomas may not be picked up in person.

Your degree will be posted to your academic history approximately six weeks after grades are posted.

Students who miss the deadline to apply for Graduation for term desired can still apply. Application will be effective for the next term.

If student is requesting a letter for verification of degree, student should simply request a transcript through normal transcript procedure. Otherwise, any request for a degree verification will be referred to the National Clearinghouse. Students have the option to change their diploma mailing address by completing the form here: Change of Address or via SWORDS. Address changes will not be completed over the phone. 

If you do not complete your degree during the term you specify on your application, your graduation status will be inactivated until you reapply and indicate a new term for degree completion. No additional fee is charged.

If you received an Associate degree, you will need to change your major with the Advisor of your new major. If you received a Bachelors degree, you will need to contact the Admissions Office to update your student status information prior to registering.

Diplomas that are damaged in the mail will be replaced for free. Student must return damaged diploma within 7 to 10 business days to get replacement.

Students must meet all requirements for the second baccalaureate degree which were in effect at the time that they began to work on the second degree. The second degree must include a minimum of an additional thirty semester hours not applicable to the first degree.

Caps and gowns (robes) will be available in the Bookstore. Academic honors cords are provided by MGA and will be given out at graduation. Academic honors will be awarded based on the last enrolled semester's Overall GPA.
