Sanctions for Policy/Procedures Violations

Health and Safety (Unacceptable and/or unhealthy living conditions)

  1. First Offense- Administrative Warning (documented warning from a Housing & Residence Life Professional Staff Member)
  2. Second Offense- Hold/Fine placed on the resident’s student account in the amount of the cost of cleaning services.
  3. Third Offense- Move to a different apartment or residential campus at the discretion of Housing & Residence Life Professional Staff. Room changes must take place within 72 hours.
  4. Fourth Offense- Removal from the Middle Georgia State University Housing & Residence Life Community

Noise Complaint (Loud noise, loud music, disruptive noise outside of quiet hours)

  1. First Offense- Administrative Warning (documented warning from a Residence Life Professional Staff Member)
  2. Second Offense- Loss of guest privileges for one month. Also, the guest will not be allowed on the property for one month per no trespass notice issued by Student Conduct.
  3. Third Offense- Loss of guest privilege for one semester. Also, the guests may not be allowed on the property for one semester per no trespass notice issued by Student Conduct.
  4. Fourth- Move to a different apartment or residential campus at the discretion of Housing Residence Life Professional Staff. Room changes must take place within 72 hours.

Smoking (Evidence to include, but not limited to smoke, lighter, ashtrays, etc.)

  1. First Offense- Administrative Warning (documented warning from a Housing Residence Life Professional Staff Member)
  2. Second Offense- Hold/Fine placed on the resident’s student account in the amount of $50.
  3. Third Offense- Move to a different apartment or residential campus at the discretion of Housing Residence Life Professional Staff. Room changes must take place within 72 hours.
  4. Fourth Offense- Subject to removal from  Middle Georgia State University Housing Residence Life Community

Alcohol Paraphernalia (including but not limited to empty beer cans, beer/liquor bottles and boxes)

  1. First Offense - Administrative Warning (documented warning from a Housing Residence Life Professional Staff Member)
  2. Second Offense - Student Conduct Referral
  3. Third Offense - Subject to removal from Middle Georgia State University Housing & Residence Life community.

Trash/Garbage (Piled up in the kitchen or by the front door or left in the breezeways, hallways, balcony or other areas – not disposed of properly)

  1. First Offense- Administrative Warning (documented warning from a Housing Residence Life Professional Staff Member)
  2. Second Offense- Financial hold placed on the resident’s student account in the amount of the cost of cleaning services, minimum of $25
  3. Third Offense- Move to a different apartment or residential campus at the discretion of Housing Residence Life Professional Staff. Room changes must take place within 72 hours.
  4. Fourth Offense- Subject to removal from the Middle Georgia State University Housing & Residence Life Community

Visitation (Overnight and Regular Visitation)

  1. First Offense- Administrative Warning (documented warning from a Housing & Residence Life Professional Staff Member)
  2. Second Offense- Loss of guest privileges for one month. Also, the guest will not be allowed on the property for one month per no trespass notice issued by Student Conduct.
  3. Third Offense- Loss of guest privileges for one semester. Also, the guest may be trespassed from the property for one semester per no trespass notice issued by Student Conduct.
  4. Fourth Offense- Loss of guest privileges for one academic year. Also, the guest may be trespassed from the property for one academic year per no trespass notice issued by Student Conduct.
