About
The Department of Natural Sciences is dedicated to advancing the understanding of the natural world through rigorous scientific inquiry and innovative research. We are committed to providing undergraduate students with opportunities to engage in hands-on research, fostering their development as critical thinkers and problem solvers. Our mission is to educate and prepare the next generation of scientists and engineers to address the challenges of the 21st century with knowledge, integrity, and a passion for discovery.
The Department of Natural Sciences offers the Bachelor of Science in Biology degree. Students in the biology degree have an opportunity to participate in research both within their courses and with individual faculty. The department was recently awarded a $25,000.00 USG STEM IV Initiative grant to support undergraduate research at MGA. The department also participates in the Regents Engineering Pathway Program ( REPP) which allows students to complete the first two years of their engineering program at MGA and then transfer for completion of their Bachelors degree in Engineering to any of the following institutions: Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern University, Kennesaw State University, UGA or Mercer University. The department is housed on the third floor of the Charles H. Jones building on the west side of the Macon campus and Dillard Hall in Cochran.
