OTA Graduation Requirements
To graduate from the Occupational Therapy Assistant program, the student must complete the following:
- Meet the graduation policies as stated in the MGA Academic Catalog.
- Earn a cumulative program GPA of 2.3.
- Meet competency standard/progression program requirements.
- Meet the Hour and Residency Requirements.
- Complete all courses specified for the OTA curriculum in accordance with the curriculum sequence for OTA-prefix courses. Non-OTA prefix courses may be taken in advance of entering the program, as long as state prerequisites are met for each course. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that all courses are within the curriculum sequence, are current, and meet state corequisite requirements.
- Graduation eligibility will be determined by the Registrar’s office. It is the students responsibility to ensure that all graduation requirements have been met by visiting the MGA Graduation Preparation page and completing a graduation application by the published Graduation Application Deadlines.
- Fulfill all financial obligations with Middle Georgia State University.
- Students must complete all Level II fieldwork within 12 months following completion of the didactic portion of the program.
- Also note:
- In order to obtain a job as an OTA, one must become certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and licensed by the state in which one practices.
- Graduates of the MGA OTA Program may be eligible to sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy COTA
- A felony conviction may affect the ability to participate in fieldwork during the program, sit for the certification exam, or obtain licensure.
